of High School
What: Independence Day Regatta College Expo
When: July 4, 2010 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Where: Events Tent to the right of the Regatta
Grandstands
Why: To provide a venue for athletes to with meet
collegiate level rowing coaches from across the country
Dear
Parents and Coaches,
Penn AC Boat Club would like to invite all junior athletes going
into their Senior Year of High School to attend the Independence
Day Regatta College Expo. Over 40 colleges and universities will
be represented, and athletes will be able to speak with some of
the top collegiate coaches in the country about the academic and
athletic opportunities their programs have to offer.
Opportunities for recruitment may also be discussed, as the
event is after July 1st.
The Independence Day Regatta is a perfect venue for this event,
as Philadelphia, PA is easily accessible via airport and/or
train. Junior Races will be held on Friday, July2nd and
Saturday, July 3rd. Collegiate Coaches will arrive on Saturday
to watch the semis and finals of all the Junior Events. This
will give your son or daughter a chance to be observed by some
of the top collegiate coaches in the country. On Sunday, the
College Expo will begin at 9 am and go until 5pm which coincides
with the Finals of the Intermediate Events and presentation of
the Mariners Point Trophy. This will allow sufficient time for
coaches, parents, and athletes to meet, and allow local athletes
to still attend holiday family events.

UNIFORMS
Two new 8 boats were recently delivered - 1 for the boys team
and
1 for the girls team.
This week, new uniform tops will arrive.
Rowers will each receive a short sleeve and tank style racing
uniform shirt.
Rowers must supply
their own black form fitting bottoms.
(Pants and shorts must be form fitting so that clothing does not
catch in the slide of the boat).
Many rowers like the Under Armour compression style bottoms
which are available in both long and short lengths
and
cold gear and heat gear styles.
In
addition, please purchase a long sleeve black form fitting shirt
to wear
under the tank or short sleeve shirt for the chilly early season
races.
If
you have any questions regarding uniforms, please see your
coach.
Thanks to all of you who were able to assist this weekend with
the
boat trailer painting or boat yard and tent/trailer clean-up.
Your efforts are much appreciated!!!
Good luck to all the rowers racing at Lake Lenape this weekend!

(2) We were originally scheduled to race the William
and Sarah Cooper Cup on April 25, 2010.
At
the time this race was submitted it was a potential qualifier
for Nationals.
That has changed and now the qualifier is the Garden State
Games. We will not race the Cooper Cup.
Instead we will race The New Jersey Scholastic Championship Race
which is on May 22, 2010.
This race falls between the Stotesbury Regatta and Nationals.
We
will race this regatta depending on the health and stamina of
the team.
***************************************************************************************************
Please note that beginning
today, 2/18/10
the bus will begin taking
rowers to the ERG room after school .
Students wishing to ride the
bus should meet on the 6th Street side
of school outside of the
glass doors
